  • The New ASDCoupledHinge Model accounts for the interaction between axial force and bending moment (PMM interaction) within lumped plasticity approaches for reinforced concrete elements. It is implemented in OpenSees and STKO, allowing users to define the strength domain and equations for evaluating yield stiffness, cap/post-cap rotations at each analysis step. This overcomes a major drawback of traditional lumped plasticity models which generally do not account for PMM interaction. Non-linear analyses are essential for simulating the structural behavior of RC elements, with the main approaches being distributed plasticity (fiber-sections) or lumped plasticity models.
